1. What AncienText collects
AncienText may process your account email address, an internal account identifier, marketing-consent choice, reading progress, reading history, saved passages, collection progress and device timezone.
For memberships, AncienText receives subscription status, product and transaction-related information from Apple, Google and RevenueCat. AncienText does not receive or store your complete payment-card details.
When you contact support or submit an account-deletion request, AncienText processes the information you provide in that correspondence.
2. Why the data is used
- To create and secure your account.
- To deliver one passage per reading day and preserve your reading progress.
- To save passages, restore your library and keep accounts separated.
- To verify membership access, purchases and restores.
- To answer support requests, prevent abuse and maintain service security.
- To send optional product or collection communications when you have consented.
3. Service providers and processors
AncienText uses service providers only as needed to operate the service:
- Supabase for authentication, database and server functions.
- RevenueCat for subscription-entitlement management.
- Apple App Store and Google Play for app distribution and store billing.
- Netlify for hosting ancientext.com and receiving the public account-deletion request form.
- An email-service provider for support correspondence.
These providers may process data in countries other than your own under their contractual and legal safeguards.
4. Retention
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, reading progress, reading history and saved passages | While the account is active; deleted when the account is deleted. |
| Optional marketing-consent record | While the account is active; deleted with the profile. |
| Device reading caches | Until replaced, cleared, account deletion is completed, or the app is removed. |
| Support and deletion-request correspondence | Normally up to 24 months after the request is closed, unless a longer period is needed for security, fraud prevention or legal obligations. |
| Security and technical logs controlled by AncienText | Normally up to 90 days, unless required for an active security investigation. |
| Store billing and transaction records | Retained by Apple, Google and applicable processors under their policies and legal obligations. |
5. Account deletion
You can delete your account inside the AncienText app from Settings → Delete Account. You can also submit a request through the public Account Deletion page.
Deletion removes the AncienText authentication account and associated profile, reading progress, reading history and saved passages. AncienText also requests deletion of the corresponding RevenueCat customer profile. Deleting an AncienText account does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription.
After deletion, signing in again may create a new account. Deleted reading data is not restored.
6. Your choices
You may decline optional marketing messages, request access or correction, and request deletion. Some information may be retained when required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
7. Children
AncienText is not directed to children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal data should contact AncienText Support.
8. Security
AncienText uses access controls, encrypted transport, account-separated database policies and restricted server secrets. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
